Statement on the use of small group tuition fund

We are participating in the government's 16-19 tuition scheme for students who have been affected by the pandemic, causing gaps in their learning. The full guidance can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/16-to-19-funding-16-to-19-tuition-fund

We are in receipt of this funding and are using it in the following ways:

Maths and English catch-up sessions as part of our Talent Lab provision. We have prioritised these for students who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths and/or English, those with special educational needs who would benefit from small group tuition.

Early intervention academic tuition for A Level students, and G&T academic reading group and language development sessions. We have prioritised these for students who may have fallen behind in their studies due to disadvantage and personal circumstance. Revision and catch up sessions. In addition, we will use small group tuition during evenings, weekends and holidays to help students catch up across various subjects, with the same groups of students targeted.

Counselling and mentoring. We have invested in an additional counsellor and additional mentors in order to provide small group and one-to-one interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing issues that have particularly affected disadvantaged students during the pandemic.

All classes are put onto students' timetables and are registered, and may be delivered by teachers, managers, and other support staff. Sessions are taking place throughout the year, during and after the college day and on Saturdays, with students targeted to attend until they have caught up on the necessary work and/or met their learning goals.
